A typical travel passport will work as a means of identification of the person who is traveling overseas. The identity of the traveler is featured on a passport along with details on the nationality of the traveler. The main factor about a passport is that it is used to help with allowing the person who is traveling overseas to be able to return to the country of origin. In some cases a passport will be required for entering a country but this is not going to be required for all countries. It is best to go and have a passport available at all times though. All countries generally have rules stating that the person who is from the country that the passport is for must have it when returning to the country. A passport is always required for entry into the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and most European Union countries. In many cases traveling to areas owned by the country of origin will not require a passport. For instance, an American does not need a passport for traveling to Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
